FRAIL CARE

Purpose built care facility - 24-hour specialized frail care is provided in an environment where residents dignity is maintained. Qualified nursing and caring staff.

HEALTH CARE

Midway employs qualified nursing and caring staff to ensure the well-being of the resident. A doctor will be available for emergency medical situations.

THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES

A variety of therapeutic activities aimed at stimulating the mind/brain and ensuring physical wellbeing. Arts, Crafts and Sensory Stimulation.

SAFETY & SECURITY

We take full responsibility for your loved one’s safety, security and well-being. 24hr CCTV surveillance throughout the premises – inside and outside.

Our Approach

Midway Care - A Home Away From Home

Midway is a small, but intimate Frail Care Centre – a home, away from home – we strive to maintain a homely environment for all our residents rather than a corporate or clinical environment. (In our experience corporate or clinical environments actually frightens them). Located on the eastern outskirts of Pretoria on a smallholding, the living space is peaceful and provides the tranquility that frail elderly persons need.

Midway Care offers a multifaceted approach to health care with a strong focus on healthy nutrition and a variety of therapeutic activities aimed at stimulating the mind/brain and ensuring holistic well-being.

Focusing on personalized care for people suffering from Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s, as well as on general frail care services, our aim is to restore dignity and quality of life for our residents.

We make the necessary doctor’s appointments, dentist appointments, optomotrist, radiology appointments etc. We also provide transport and accompany our residents to their appointments.
Physiotherapists and other therapists visit residents directly at Midway Care Centre.

At Midway Care we are proud of numerous success stories where our patients were able to return home with much improved health and well being.

We believe that our holistic approach is key to our success rate, alongside with the committed and authentic care we hold for our residents.

When my mother was diagnosed with dementia, my father did what so many devoted husbands do – he cared for her himself. He carried that burden quietly, without complaint, and for a long time we all thought he was coping. Only after my mother moved to Midway did we realise how utterly exhausted he had been. Nobody had noticed the caregiver fatigue – not us, not friends, not anyone. It creeps up silently, and it takes a toll on the caregiver that is every bit as real as the illness itself. If you are where we were – exhausted and searching for the right place for someone you love – take it from a family who has lived it. Midway isn't just a care facility. It's the place where my mother is truly at home, and it's the place that finally allowed my father to rest and accept. And for that, Sharon, we will be forever grateful. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for giving our mother a home.

Midway Care Center sê presies wat hierdie instansie doen, en ons was baie gelukkig met Ido se vordering en rehabilitasie tydens sy verblyf vir 2 maande na sy beroerte. Nadat Ido ontslaan is, kon hy loop met behulp van n' loopraam, self opstaan uit n' stoel en ander funksies verrig wat ek nie sou kon regkry nie. Almal wat daar werk, vanaf die kombuis, versorging, verpleeg personeel behandel die mensies met profesionele deernis en respek. Midway het die spanning en stres van ons as familie verlig en ons is ewig dankbaar vir almal se liefde en omgee. Dankie Sharon, jy het n' wonderlike span wat vir jou werk.

Ons het amper 5 jaar gelede voor 'n groot krisis te staan gekom toe my tannie, wat geen eie kinders het en 'n oujongnooi is, nie meer vir haarself kon sorg, ad gevolg van dimensia nie. Sy kon op daardie stadium nie eers loop nie en moes per rolstoel na bestemmings geneem word. Ons is deur goeie vriende aanbeveel om Midway Care Centre te oorweeg as versorgings-oord aangesien die vriende verskeie instansies al deur is met hul moeder. Van dag een af, het die plaas-omgewing, sorgsame en liefdevolle ontvangs en ruimtes ons beiindruk. Die kamers waar maksimum 4 beddens gedeel word en die besondere sorg vir elke inwoner se spesifieke behoeftes is verdere plus-punte. My tannie kan nou met 'n loopraam loop. Sy word goed versorg. Die daaglikse roetine en gesonde etes versterk haar. Sy is 1000maal beter af waar sy nou is, as wat sy in haar eie woonstel was. Ons is baie dankbaar vir Sharon, Ansovi en die span wat so mooi na ons tannie kyk. Liefde groete
